Australian performer Clare McCann, known from Channel V’s Blog Party, is taking heartbreaking yet bold action following the death of her 13-year-old son, Atreyu, who died by suicide after enduring relentless bullying at a New South Wales public school.
McCann has accused schools and government agencies of ignoring repeated pleas for help. She says she warned teachers and authorities, backed by psychologist reports and a PTSD diagnosis, but “nothing was done.”
In a desperate and defiant act, the actress launched a GoFundMe campaign to raise $300,000 to cryonically preserve her son’s body — hoping that future science may revive him. “This is not about science alone,” she wrote. “It is about hope and justice, refusing to let my child’s life be erased in silence.”
While cryonics remains controversial, McCann’s mission goes beyond preservation. She vows to use any remaining funds to fight systemic negligence, launch anti-bullying initiatives, and support other grieving families.
Through her grief, McCann’s message echoes powerfully: “No parent should ever have to bury a child because a school refused to act.”
