Brittany Snow Speaks Out on Hollywood’s Age Bias in Sex Scenes
Actress Brittany Snow has revealed the “unspoken rule” in Hollywood regarding female-led sex scenes, highlighting the industry’s bias against women over 32. Speaking on the Las Culturistas podcast, the Pitch Perfect star said, “Hollywood wants to disregard women after the age of 32 for sex scenes, specifically nudity and things that are sort of like women coming into their own sexual prowess.”
Snow noted that while intimacy coordinators are more common today, women often face inequities on set. She explained, “A lot of men in sex scenes are really focused on themselves… not necessarily thinking about your experience.”
Her recent work in The Hunting Wives, opposite Swedish actor Malin Akerman, offered a more collaborative environment. “With Malin, it was so collaborative… so much care was taken, which felt really nice,” Snow said, emphasizing mutual respect and safety during filming.
The actress added that the show celebrated mature, powerful women: “We’re in our late 30s, 40s, and we’re going to be powerful… for the woman gaze. That was never a question.”
