Coach K Praises Caitlin Clark, Calls Out Jealousy in the WNBA
Legendary Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski, known as Coach K, has openly praised WNBA sensation Caitlin Clark, while criticizing the league’s culture of jealousy. Speaking at the Richmond Forum, he called Clark a “transformative figure” who elevates women’s basketball through her talent, leadership, and poise.
“You’re so real… I would have loved to coach you,” Coach K said, highlighting her elite court vision and unselfish play.
In her rookie year with the Indiana Fever, Clark averaged 19.2 points and 8.4 assists, led the team to the playoffs, and shattered records in TV ratings and merchandise sales. Some of her games even outperformed NBA broadcasts in viewership.
Despite this success, Clark has faced harsh criticism—much of it, Coach K argues, rooted in “bitterness” and “pettiness.” Critics have questioned her popularity, often ignoring her on-court achievements.
