Chilling Turn in Search for Savannah Guthrie’s Missing Mother
The investigation into the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie, the 84-year-old mother of Today show co-host Savannah Guthrie, has taken a disturbing new turn as authorities examine alleged ransom messages and troubling physical evidence.
According to officials, Nancy vanished from her Tucson home overnight, and investigators believe she was taken against her will. Reports indicate that an alleged ransom note demanding millions in Bitcoin was sent to media outlets, containing personal details about Nancy and her home. While authenticity has not been confirmed, both the Pima County Sheriff’s Department and the FBI say every lead is being treated seriously.
“There has been no proof of life,” an FBI official warned, adding that missed communication deadlines have heightened concern. Authorities also revealed that blood evidence was found inside the home and leading toward the driveway.
Sheriff Chris Nanos stressed the urgency, noting Nancy requires daily medication, saying, “The clock is literally ticking.”
Investigators are also warning about impostors exploiting the case, confirming one arrest linked to a fake ransom attempt.
As the search intensifies, federal authorities are offering a $50,000 reward, urging the public to come forward with any information that could help bring Nancy home safely.
