Trailblazing Naval Aviators Honored for Historic Service

Lt. Amanda Evans made history in 2023 as part of the all-female flyover during Super Bowl LVII, marking 50 years of women in naval aviation. Known for her outstanding leadership and aviation skills, Evans stands as a symbol of progress and inspiration for future generations of female pilots.

“Evans isn’t just a pilot—she’s a pioneer,” said one Navy official.

Lt. Serena N. Wileman, also a California native, was commissioned in 2018 and joined the elite Electronic Attack Squadron 130, known as the “Zappers,” in 2021. Her dedication and contributions to the squadron’s mission earned her widespread recognition.

Both Evans and Wileman had recently returned from a demanding deployment in the Middle East, flying critical missions over Yemen and supporting operations in the Red Sea. Their courage, professionalism, and commitment to national security were evident throughout their deployment.

These women exemplify the bravery and excellence of the U.S. Navy’s next generation of aviators—breaking barriers and making history in the skies.
