Tragedy in ‘Billionaire’s Backyard’: 20-Year-Old Crew Member Murdered on Luxury Yacht in the Bahamas
In a heartbreaking incident off the coast of Harbour Island—often called “Billionaire’s Backyard”—20-year-old South African crew member Paige Bell was found dead in the engine room of the luxury yacht Far From It, just days before her 21st birthday.
Bell, known for her vibrant spirit and compassionate heart, had previously worked aboard the Sweet Emocean before joining Far From It. She was described by her former crewmates as “family,” with a GoFundMe campaign honoring her memory and supporting her grieving loved ones.
Authorities say Bell had slash wounds on her neck and arms, and was partially undressed when discovered—raising concerns of a possible sexual assault. Present at the scene was 39-year-old Mexican national Brigido Munoz, who was arrested and has now been charged with her murder. He reportedly suffered injuries consistent with a suicide attempt and remains in custody after being denied bail.
The Royal Bahamas Police continue their investigation, which has shaken the tight-knit yachting community and raised questions about safety aboard private luxury vessels.
