Texas Father’s Heartbreaking Voicemails Reveal Heroic Final Moments in Deadly Kerrville Flood
During a devastating flood in Kerrville, Texas, 61-year-old Jeff Ramsey and his wife Tanya, 46, were swept away as rising waters engulfed their trailer at HTR RV Park. In his final moments, Jeff left emotional voicemails for his children, Jake (24) and Rachel (23), saying, “We’re dying, we’re dying!”—a chilling message underscored by rushing water and Tanya’s screams.
“You never heard this guy panic,” Jake shared. “But in that message… he was scared.”
Tragically, an evacuation alert came too late—just as Jeff recorded his last message. Yet in one final act of courage, he called Tanya’s mother and brother, warning them in time to evacuate. “He saved their lives,” Jake confirmed.
Tanya, who had been bravely battling breast cancer, was deeply loved by Jake and Rachel despite not being their biological mother. Jeff, a gym worker known for his compassion, is remembered as a man who always helped others.
Now, the community honors both Jeff and Tanya for their heroism, love, and selfless final moments.
