From 350kg to Hope: Charity’s Inspiring Journey to Break Free from Food Addiction
At one point, Charity weighed 350kg, completely immobile and reliant on her family for everything — even basic needs like bathing and using the bathroom. But what haunted her more than her own condition was the realization that her 19-year-old daughter, already weighing 150kg, was heading down the same destructive path.
Charity’s husband, Tommy, didn’t see the issue. He was attracted to extremely overweight women and devoted himself to caring for her. They met online, and he never left. While Tommy’s love may have felt like support, it ultimately enabled Charity’s worsening condition.
One day, Charity looked at her daughter and saw her past — and possibly her future. That moment sparked a radical change.
She agreed to hospitalization, received nutritional education and therapy, and began shedding weight. After losing 60kg, doctors performed gastric bypass surgery. Within a year, she had lost 200kg and stabilized at 150kg.
Now, mother and daughter are healing together, choosing movement over meals and freedom over dependence.
“I wasn’t just saving myself — I was saving her too.”
