After Giving Birth to Her 3rd Child, She Collapsed – Then Learned She’d Been Living with Incurable Cancer for 5 Years

A Mom, a Mystery Pain, and an Unshakable Will to Live

Michelle Hughes thought her pregnancy pain was nothing unusual—just another part of motherhood. But what seemed like a nagging ache beneath her rib was actually something far more serious: a rare, incurable cancer that had silently grown for years.

After her first daughter was born, Michelle pushed through the discomfort, balancing work, family, and two more pregnancies. Doctors repeatedly told her the liver cyst found during pregnancy was harmless. Even after multiple ER visits, nothing seemed to change—until everything did.

Days after delivering her third child, Michelle collapsed. Her lungs were full of tumors, and her liver was riddled with growths. The diagnosis? Stage 4 Epithelioid Hemangioendothelioma (EHE), a cancer so rare it often hides in plain sight.

Told she had months to live, Michelle chose a different path: joy. She began running—first on a treadmill, then 5Ks, and eventually a triathlon. She built a community on Instagram, inspiring hundreds of thousands with her raw honesty and determination.

Today, Michelle lives week by week, crossing off a chart not as a countdown, but a celebration of time gained. Her dream? To see her youngest off to kindergarten. For Michelle, it’s not about how long she has—but how fully she chooses to live.
