Michael Jordan Hooks Big at White Marlin Open
Michael Jordan’s legendary competitiveness has earned him six NBA titles and five MVPs—but this weekend, even the GOAT came up just short, far from the basketball court. Jordan’s crew aboard his 80-foot yacht Catch 23 landed a 71-pound white marlin at the White Marlin Open in Ocean City, Maryland, securing second place and a $400,000 prize.
A Fierce Battle on the Water
The White Marlin Open is the world’s richest and most prestigious fishing tournament, featuring over 280 boats. Delayed by weather, the final day saw 211 boats racing for the top catch. Jordan’s team, led by angler Trey “Cricket” McMillan, hooked their marlin on day six. As they returned to the harbor, “Sirius”—the Bulls’ iconic intro song—blared, celebrating Jordan’s legacy.
Narrowly Missed Victory
First place went to Dan Gough’s crew on the Billfisher, whose 72-pound marlin earned an estimated $4.27 million, just one pound heavier than Jordan’s catch.
Still a Win for MJ
Fans flocked to the docks to see the NBA icon, proving once again that whether it’s basketball, golf, NASCAR, or fishing, Michael Jordan hates to lose.
