“Wheel of Fortune” Fans Slam ‘Unfair’ $50K Bonus Puzzle
Wheel of Fortune fans are once again venting their frustration after contestant Lisa Santangelo lost a massive $50,000 bonus prize on what many are calling an “impossible” puzzle.
Santangelo had an impressive night, racking up $12,928 in winnings plus a dream trip to Hawaii. After dominating the Mystery Round and securing the vacation, she entered the Bonus Round as the top earner. With her mother cheering from the sidelines, she spun the wheel, chose the “Person” category, and faced the tricky puzzle:
O _ LE _ _ ENT
Despite selecting P, C, H, and O, she only revealed another “O.” With just 10 seconds to guess, Santangelo was left stumped. The answer—“Double Agent”—flipped over as the clock expired, costing her the $50,000 jackpot.
Even new host Ryan Seacrest admitted, “I don’t know how you would have gotten there with that.” Fans quickly flooded social media, slamming the recycled puzzle, which previously knocked out a contestant in 2008.
As one viewer summed it up: “That wasn’t tough—it was impossible.”
