Trump Criticizes TIME Cover, Calls It ‘Super Bad’ Despite Peace Deal Recognition
President Donald Trump has expressed frustration over a TIME magazine cover featuring him following his recent trips to Israel and Egypt, calling the image “super bad” and saying it deserved to be “called out.”
On October 13, the 79-year-old visited Sharm el-Sheikh to sign a peace declaration for Gaza alongside 20 global leaders, including representatives from Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey. His visit followed a trip to Israel for the release of hostages under the ceasefire deal between Israel and Hamas, which also saw Israel freeing 250 Palestinian prisoners serving life sentences and 1,700 additional detainees.
“I’m good at solving wars. I’m good at making peace,” Trump told the BBC about his diplomatic efforts. TIME hailed the ceasefire as a potential “signature achievement” of his second term. However, the President criticized the magazine’s low-angle photo of him in a navy suit and red tie, claiming it made his hair appear “disappeared” and featured a “floating crown.”
Trump, a two-time TIME Person of the Year, has previously expressed dissatisfaction with the publication, including its 2015 Person of the Year choice and 2013 Most Influential People list.
Despite his praise for the article itself, Trump’s reaction underscores his continued scrutiny of how he is visually portrayed in the media.
