Mojo, a four-month-old puppy, faced a harsh beginning to life. Abandoned, starving, and suffering from severe scabies, the little dog’s condition was dire. His entire body was covered in painful sores, making survival uncertain.
Salvation came in the form of Joey Wagner, a devoted animal advocate with the Baie Ste. Marie Animal Society in Nova Scotia, Canada. When Joey first encountered Mojo in 2013, he immediately recognized the urgency. “The look he gave me, I knew he would live. So we did everything we could,” Joey told CBC. He rushed Mojo to a veterinarian for intensive care, beginning the long journey toward recovery.
Mojo steadily improved under proper medical attention, but the next challenge was finding a permanent, loving home. Eventually, Mojo was ready to meet his new family—but his bond with Joey remained unbroken. When the two reunited, Mojo’s joyful response—kisses, hugs, and tail-wagging—showed he never forgot the man who saved his life.
Today, Mojo thrives with Joey and his adoptive family, a heartwarming testament to compassion, resilience, and the unbreakable connection between a rescued animal and their hero.
