Ash Soto Turns Vitiligo into Body Art and a Global Message of Self-Love
Diagnosed with vitiligo at just 12, Ash Soto faced years of bullying, confusion, and shame. By her teens, white patches had spread across her skin, prompting cruel remarks — one person even asked if she’d showered with bleach. The emotional toll was immense, leading to anxiety and depression.
But instead of hiding, Ash chose to reclaim her narrative.
“I never realized how beautiful my vitiligo was until I traced it with a black marker,” she said.
The patterns reminded her of a world map, and soon she began transforming her skin into breathtaking art — recreating masterpieces like Van Gogh’s Starry Night on her own body.
At first, Ash was afraid to show her skin online. But when she finally did, the response was life-changing. Messages of support poured in, inspiring her to advocate for body positivity and vitiligo awareness.
Now in her twenties, Ash uses her platform to celebrate beauty in all forms.
“What others saw as imperfections, I turned into something beautiful.”
