A high-speed pursuit led by the Arkansas State Police concluded dramatically after a Precision Immobilization Technique (PIT) maneuver resulted in a suspect’s vehicle flipping over. The incident occurred late Tuesday evening on a rural highway, after troopers attempted to stop a vehicle linked to multiple felony charges.
According to officials, the driver refused to pull over, initiating a dangerous chase through multiple counties. Speeds exceeded 100 mph, endangering motorists and pedestrians. Troopers maintained a calculated response, waiting for the right moment to execute a PIT maneuver—an advanced tactic designed to safely end pursuits by nudging the fleeing vehicle’s rear, causing it to spin out.
“Public safety is our top priority,” stated an Arkansas State Police spokesperson. “The PIT maneuver was deployed with precision and minimal risk to others.”
The maneuver caused the suspect’s vehicle to lose control and roll several times before coming to a rest on its roof. Emergency crews responded quickly, and the driver was taken into custody with non-life-threatening injuries.
Dashcam footage of the pursuit has since circulated online, showcasing the disciplined and professional response of state troopers under extreme pressure.
Authorities confirmed that the suspect faces several charges, including felony evasion, reckless driving, and possession of a controlled substance.
This latest incident highlights the Arkansas State Police’s commitment to protecting the public while minimizing harm. As one trooper noted, “Sometimes, ending a chase fast and clean is the best way to save lives.”
