Gilbert Arenas and Paul George Agree: Michael Jordan Isn’t Just the GOAT, He’s Untouchable
In today’s NBA, rings, stats, and accolades usually fuel the GOAT debate. But according to Gilbert Arenas and Paul George, Michael Jordan stands in a category by himself — beyond comparison.
On Podcast P with Paul George, Arenas explained: “Everybody’s like, ‘That’s the GOAT door.’ But when you get there, you realize Michael Jordan ain’t in here. He’s somewhere else.”
Jordan’s greatness, Arenas argues, wasn’t built solely on his six championships. Even in 1988, before winning a single ring, his dominance, swagger, and cultural impact made him the face of the NBA. That year, as Nike introduced the iconic Jumpman logo, the basketball world already declared him the best.
Unlike today’s superteam era, Jordan carried the league through the transition from the struggling ‘80s into a global powerhouse — and he did it solo.
As Paul George put it: “He was doing that while being hand-checked. No D3. No space.”
For Arenas, the debate is already closed: “Everybody’s just fighting for second.”
