Seven Bodies Recovered After California Fireworks Warehouse Explosion
Authorities have confirmed the recovery of seven bodies following a devastating fireworks warehouse explosion in Northern California. The blast occurred on July 1 around 6 p.m. near Esparto, northwest of Sacramento, triggering the Oakdale Fire that scorched 78 acres before being fully contained by Cal Fire.
The Yolo County Coroner’s Division announced on July 7 that all seven victims, previously reported missing, were found at the scene. Identities are being withheld until official confirmation and family notifications are complete.
“The Coroner’s Office continues to communicate directly with the families and will provide further updates as appropriate,” officials said in a statement.
The explosion destroyed multiple structures, sparked grass fires, and left behind dangerous explosive hazards. Investigators believe the site was operated under a pyrotechnic license, but compliance with state regulations is still under review.
At the request of the Esparto Fire Protection District, Cal Fire’s Arson and Bomb Investigation Unit is leading the probe into the blast’s origin and cause.
