Cameron Diaz: From Runway to Hollywood Icon
Born on August 30, 1972, in San Diego and raised in Long Beach, California, Cameron Diaz had a lively, adventure-filled childhood. She attended Long Beach Polytechnic High School, sharing hallways with none other than Snoop Dogg.
At just 16, Diaz was discovered by Elite Model Management and quickly launched into a globe-trotting modeling career. She posed for major brands like Levi’s, Calvin Klein, and Coca-Cola, living in Japan, Australia, and Paris.
But it was Hollywood that came calling. Without any prior acting experience, Diaz landed her breakout role in The Mask (1994) alongside Jim Carrey at age 21. The performance catapulted her to fame. She followed up with indie films before There’s Something About Mary (1998), earning her a Golden Globe nomination.
Her film résumé includes major hits like Charlie’s Angels, Shrek (as the voice of Princess Fiona), The Holiday, and Bad Teacher. Off-screen, Cameron kept things private. She married Good Charlotte guitarist Benji Madden in 2015, and the couple welcomed daughter Raddix in 2019.
Though she retired from acting in 2018, Diaz made a surprise comeback in Back in Action (2022) on Netflix with Jamie Foxx. Today, she’s all about family, wellness, and her wine label Avaline—a true Hollywood icon who lives life on her own terms.
