Tershawn Wharton Saves Young Fan at Chiefs-Panthers Game
Kansas City Chiefs defensive tackle Tershawn Wharton displayed incredible quick thinking after the Chiefs’ victory over the Carolina Panthers on November 24, 2024. As fans gathered by the railings at Bank of America Stadium, hoping for high-fives and souvenirs, a young boy lost his balance and began to fall over the edge of the elevated stands.
Wharton, who was leaving the field, noticed the incident and lunged forward, catching the boy mid-fall and preventing a potentially dangerous headfirst impact. With help from a security guard, he safely returned the child to the stands. A video of the heart-stopping moment quickly went viral.
In an interview on the Pat McAfee Show, Wharton explained, “It was just a natural reaction” when he saw the boy fall. Despite warnings from security to stay away from the edge, the boys ignored them, creating a risky situation that could have ended much worse without Wharton’s intervention.
Wharton, now in his fifth season with the Chiefs, expressed his desire to invite the boy to a future game, wanting to share the experience with him.
“I would like to reach out to him, get him out to a game.”
