LeBron James is entering Year 23 in the NBA, but according to sports analyst Colin Cowherd, one thing remains the same: “He’s still chasing the ghost in Chicago.” That ghost, of course, is Michael Jordan.

Back in 2016, after winning his third championship, LeBron admitted: “My motivation is this ghost I’m chasing. The ghost played in Chicago.” Since then, James has added a fourth ring and become the league’s all-time leading scorer, yet Cowherd believes the race is over.

“He knows he’s never going to catch MJ,” Cowherd said on The Herd. “Jordan is six-for-six. He’s more memorable. He’s the brand. He sells more shoes. He makes you feel something.”

Cowherd highlighted the contrast: Jordan has “a dozen iconic moments,” while LeBron has “one — the 2016 chase-down block.” He also pointed to Jordan’s massive $3.5 billion net worth, dwarfing LeBron’s $1 billion fortune.

Another key difference? Loyalty. Jordan stayed with the Bulls dynasty, while LeBron moved from Cleveland to Miami to Los Angeles.

LeBron’s legacy is undeniable, but Cowherd insists the GOAT debate isn’t about stats — it’s about emotion. “And on that front, Jordan still wins.”
