McDonald’s Brings Australia’s Double Big Mac to the U.S.
McDonald’s is super-sizing its menu once again, and this time it’s borrowing a fan favorite from Australia. Starting January 24, the Double Big Mac will hit U.S. restaurants for a limited time, sparking excitement—and debate—among fast-food lovers.
First launched in Australia in 2020, the Double Big Mac has since become a global hit, appearing in New Zealand, Canada, and the UK. The colossal burger features four beef patties, lettuce, pickles, onions, American cheese, and the chain’s iconic Big Mac sauce stacked inside a sesame seed bun. With 680 calories, it’s being marketed as “double the fun”—and double the size.
Reactions online are mixed. Some fans are already counting down the days, with one declaring, “I’ll eat one, feel disgusting after, but enjoy every minute.” Others criticize the oversized sandwich as “obscene,” citing America’s obesity concerns.
Still, with Big Mac combo meals already nearing $18 in some U.S. locations, the Double Big Mac is expected to become a must-try splurge for burger enthusiasts. Whether celebrated or condemned, its arrival proves one thing: McDonald’s knows how to get people talking.
