Customers Outraged Over McDonald’s New Burger, Some Call It ‘Obscene’

McDonald’s is kicking off a major fast-food frenzy by bringing one of Australia’s most talked-about burgers straight to the United States. The Double Big Mac — an oversized fan favorite Down Under — will hit U.S. menus for a limited time starting January 24, and excitement is already exploding online. Australians have been enjoying this larger-than-life burger since 2020, and now Americans are getting their chance to see why it’s earned such a legendary status.

Packed with four beef patties, stacked toppings, and a heavy dose of the signature Big Mac sauce, the Double Big Mac promises a flavor overload. Fast-food lovers are celebrating the announcement, with many saying they plan to try it even if they’ll “feel disgusting after,” while others are counting down the days, calling it a “must-try” indulgence.

Not everyone is cheering, though. Critics argue that releasing such a massive burger in a country already battling high obesity rates is “obscene,” sparking a fresh debate about fast-food culture in America. Still, fans from countries like Canada and the UK — where the burger is already available — insist it’s worth every bite.

With 680 calories and a likely steep price tag, this burger isn’t for the timid. After McDonald’s raised prices across the U.S. in 2023, some locations are already charging nearly $18 for a regular Big Mac meal, and reports suggest the Double Big Mac could cost more than $20 in some areas.

The burger first appeared briefly in the U.S. in 2020 and left a strong impression among customers who praised its bold flavor and sheer size. Now, as McDonald’s brings back this super-sized classic, Americans are gearing up for a taste of Australia’s fast-food flair — a towering, indulgent, and unforgettable burger experience.
