Dave Bautista and Samuel L. Jackson are officially doing a movie together: ‘Afterburn’

Get ready for an electrifying adventure as Dave Bautista and Samuel L. Jackson team up for the film adaptation of Red 5 Comics’ Afterburn.

In this post-apocalyptic world, Earth’s technology has been obliterated by a massive solar flare. Bautista takes on the role of Jake, a former soldier turned artifact retriever for wealthy clients. Alongside Drea, a freedom fighter played by yet-to-be-announced talent, Jake sets out to recover the Mona Lisa before it falls into the clutches of a malevolent warlord.

Samuel L. Jackson joins the cast in a supporting role as Valentine, another member of the resistance. Directing this high-octane project is J.J. Perry, known for his work on the upcoming action-comedy The Killer’s Game, also starring Bautista.

Producing the film are Neal H. Moritz, Toby Jaffe, and Steve Richards, who express excitement about bringing Afterburn to life. Jaffe describes the film as a thrilling blend of Indiana Jones’ adventure with the futuristic world-building of Children of Men. He praises Perry’s vision for using practical stunt work to create authentic and visceral set pieces.

Red 5’s Afterburn comic, which served as the inspiration for the film, debuted in January 2008 and quickly gained acclaim. Written by Red 5 founders Scott Chitwood and Paul Ens, with illustrations by Wayne Nichols, the series spanned four gripping issues.

While the release date for Dave Bautista’s untitled Afterburn movie is yet to be announced, anticipation is already running high for this action-packed cinematic experience.
