Toddler Brutally Injured at Daycare: Worker Arrested
What should have been a normal first day at Little Blessings Child Care in Bainbridge, Washington, became every parent’s nightmare.
When Cory Weeks picked up his 1-year-old son, Clay, he was horrified to see the baby’s face swollen and bruised. Staff initially claimed another child had caused the injuries, but surveillance footage revealed something far darker: Clay had been assaulted by a daycare worker.
Authorities arrested 54-year-old Yvette Thurston, charging her with multiple counts of first-degree child abuse and aggravated battery. She was released on bond, and the daycare has since fired her.
Cory, a U.S. Marine, shared graphic photos on Facebook, calling it “every parent’s worst nightmare.” He warned families not to dismiss unexplained injuries or be fooled by daycare “happy photos” meant to reassure parents.
Clay was treated at Memorial Hospital, and the investigation is ongoing. Cory has vowed justice, saying nothing will be “swept under the rug.”
This case serves as a chilling reminder: vigilance is essential in protecting children.
