Trump vs. Musk: A Once-Strong Alliance Shatters Over Politics, Power, and Party Lines

What began as a strategic alliance between President Donald Trump and Elon Musk has now unraveled into a public feud marked by political betrayal and personal jabs. The fallout reached a boiling point after Musk announced plans to form a new political faction—The America Party—intended to rival both Democrats and Republicans.

Once at Trump’s side as the head of the Department of Government Efficiency, Musk later distanced himself from politics. But before stepping away, he sparked controversy by hinting that Trump’s name appeared in sealed Epstein documents—an accusation he later retracted with an apology. The damage, however, had been done.

Fueling the fire, Musk strongly opposed Trump’s newly passed “One Big Beautiful Bill Act,” claiming it would cause mass job losses. He pledged to fund campaigns against its supporters and vowed that his America Party would be “a true alternative.”

Trump hit back hard. Speaking from his New Jersey golf club, he dismissed Musk’s plans:

“Third parties have never worked… it’s ridiculous.”

On Truth Social, Trump escalated further:

“It’s sad to watch Elon Musk spiral… a TRAIN WRECK.”

Trump also accused Musk of turning against him over EV subsidy cuts and slammed his alleged lobbying to install a close associate at NASA.

“It was inappropriate,” Trump added.

Musk responded on X:

“We live under a one-party system masquerading as democracy. The America Party is here to restore your freedom.”

Whether Musk’s political ambitions materialize remains unclear. But one thing’s for sure: this war of words signals a full-blown rupture—with no reconciliation in sight.
