Elon Musk vs. Donald Trump: GOP Civil War Erupts Over Massive Spending Bill
Elon Musk has reignited tensions with Donald Trump, publicly slamming the former president’s proposed $3.3 trillion spending bill and threatening political revenge against GOP lawmakers who support it. The billionaire, now serving as a “special government employee” focused on federal cost-cutting, didn’t hold back on X, warning:
“Anyone who campaigned on the PROMISE of REDUCING SPENDING, but continues to vote on the BIGGEST DEBT ceiling increase in HISTORY will see their face on this poster in the primary next year.”
Trump’s bill, packed with defense expansions, tax cuts, and pork-barrel projects, is a cornerstone of his 2024 platform—but Musk isn’t buying it. The Tesla CEO accused Republicans of betraying fiscal responsibility, while Trump retaliated on Truth Social, mocking Musk’s reliance on subsidies and suggesting his empire would collapse without federal support.
“Elon may get more subsidy than any human being in history… No more Rocket launches, Satellites, or Electric Car Production,” Trump wrote.
Musk responded defiantly:
“I am literally saying CUT IT ALL. Now.”
As the Senate debates the nearly 1,000-page bill, this clash signals a deeper GOP rift—with Musk even floating the idea of a new “Porky Pig Party” to replace what he calls “a one-party country.”
