Wheel of Fortune Fans Furious After Contestant Denied $40,000 Prize
“Wheel of Fortune” fans are outraged after contestant Megan, a California choir director, was denied a $40,000 bonus prize despite seemingly solving the puzzle correctly.
The Controversial Puzzle
During the bonus round, Megan faced the “Living Thing” category with the letters revealing “P_N_’ ‘RC _ D.” With just seconds left, she blurted what many viewers clearly heard as “Pink Orchid.” However, judges ruled her answer incorrect, awarding her only $14,007 instead of the $40,000 jackpot.
Viewers Call Foul
Social media erupted with fans demanding justice.
“The woman got screwed… she totally said ‘PINK ORCHID,’” one user wrote.
Another fan added: “I’m half-deaf and lip read. She said Pink Orchid. No question.”
Some even called on producers to replay the footage: “Wheel of Fortune, go back and watch. She said exactly that!”
Ongoing Backlash
This isn’t the first controversy for the game show. In January, fans slammed judges for accepting “Absolutely Positively” as a rhyme in a puzzle round, calling the decision “nonsense.”
With mounting backlash, viewers are demanding more accuracy from the long-running game show.
