FBI, Boston police and fire investigating ‘intentional’ explosion

A shocking early-morning explosion at Harvard University’s Medical School campus has prompted a joint investigation by the FBI and Boston authorities. The blast occurred around 2:48 a.m. on Nov. 1 inside the Goldenson Building’s fourth floor, officials confirmed.

According to Harvard University Police, the incident appears to have been intentional, and the Boston Fire Department’s Arson Unit supports that assessment. Emergency teams quickly swept the building, and no additional explosive devices were found. Thankfully, no injuries were reported.

A Harvard police officer responding to a fire alarm witnessed two unidentified individuals running from the building moments after the explosion. The officer attempted to stop them but was unable to before heading toward the alarm site.

Authorities have now released surveillance images of the two suspects and are urging the public to help identify them.

“This is an active investigation,” the FBI stated, confirming its involvement at the scene.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Harvard Police at 617-495-1796.

Officials continue working to determine the motive behind the incident as campus safety efforts intensify.
