Angel Reese Taunts Caitlin Clark Amidst LSU’s National Championship Victory
LSU Tigers star Angel Reese secured a national championship, but not without making her mark in a controversial manner. At the conclusion of the national title game on Sunday night, Reese taunted Iowa’s Caitlin Clark, drawing significant backlash from fans and former ESPN personality Keith Olbermann.
Olbermann expressed his disapproval on social media, harshly criticizing Reese by calling her a “fucking idiot.” He elaborated, “Doesn’t matter the gender, the sport, the background – you’re seconds away from a championship and you do something like this and overshadow all the good. Mindless, classless, and what kind of coach does this team have?”

Other fans shared similar sentiments:
- “Classless. IMO. But she’s been that way the whole tournament so doesn’t surprise me. Congrats to LSU though.”
- “Excellent player, good game. But is all that necessary? Humble in victory?”
- “So, a player directly taunting an opposing player isn’t a technical foul?”
- “I like how she is showboating and wasn’t even the best player on her own team today. We couldn’t see you behind Jasmine Carson if it wasn’t for her you wouldn’t have that ring.”
Despite the criticism, Reese and the LSU Tigers celebrated their national championship victory with an outstanding performance, defeating Iowa 102-85. Reese contributed significantly with 15 points on 5-of-12 shooting, 10 rebounds, five assists, and three steals. Throughout the six tournament games, she averaged 21.3 points and 15.2 rebounds per game.

While the taunting incident sparked heated debate, it did not overshadow the LSU Tigers’ exceptional achievement and Angel Reese’s pivotal role in their championship win.
