A dramatic CCTV clip from Carnes Cárdenas, a butcher shop in Monterrey, Mexico, has gone viral after capturing a real-life act of heroism. The footage shows a man entering the shop, pulling a handgun from under his hoodie, and pointing it at the cashier.
Calmly unfazed, the woman behind the counter shields her face with a notebook. Moments later, the gunman turns his weapon toward a customer — an older man with a gray mustache and cowboy hat. Instead of panicking, the man stays eerily composed.
When the gunman briefly points his weapon toward another customer, the cowboy seizes the moment — lunging forward and tackling the assailant. The two struggle as the gun falls to the floor, quickly scooped up by a butcher.
The shirtless suspect tries to flee but is pinned down by the cowboy and two employees until police arrive.
The hero was later identified as Reynaldo Cárdenas, co-owner of the store. His son Daniel confirmed the footage was real, saying, “He acted that way out of fear — but instinct took over.”
The viral video has since earned Reynaldo national praise as Mexico’s unshakable “Cowboy Hero.”
