Louisiana Teens Honor Forgotten Air Force Veteran with Dignity
When 94-year-old U.S. Air Force veteran Ralph Lambert passed away with no family or friends, local high school baseball coach Jordan Marks stepped in to ensure he received a proper farewell.
Lambert, who served from 1950 to 1971, was set to be cremated without ceremony. Coach Marks, moved by the veteran’s story, chose six seniors from Menard High School to act as pallbearers.
“We’re not just teaching baseball—we’re teaching life,” Marks told KPLC-TV.
Students Ashton Veade, Cameron Kinder, Jacob Giordano, Jackson Ford, Ashton Brodnax, and Hunter Foster carried Lambert’s flag-draped casket to the Central Louisiana Veterans Cemetery, giving him the respect he earned.
Senior Jacob Giordano called it “an honor,” while Cameron Kinder reflected on the reality of veterans passing unnoticed.
The community responded with praise:
“Absolutely awesome—thank you young boys for serving someone who served us,” one commenter wrote.
Organizations like the Missing in America Project continue fighting to honor unclaimed veterans—ensuring no hero is forgotten.
This story is a powerful reminder: respect and gratitude transcend generations.
