Jonathan Kuminga Shines in Nerve-Wracking Victory Over the Suns
The Golden State Warriors capped off a tough back-to-back schedule with a statement win against the Phoenix Suns, spearheaded by an exceptional performance from Jonathan Kuminga. On a night when Kevin Durant was the star attraction, Kuminga stole the spotlight at the Chase Center.
The fourth-year forward delivered a career-high-tying 34 points, 13 of which came in the clutch fourth quarter. Kuminga outplayed Durant on both ends, with the Suns’ star finishing with 31 points but eight costly turnovers. Kuminga also shot an efficient 12-of-20 from the field and 8-of-12 from the foul line, overcoming late-game nerves with help from teammate Andrew Wiggins. He admitted:
“I was nervous, not gonna lie. Wiggins gave me a tip, and I’m glad I made those free throws. I’m getting better at it.”
Steve Kerr and Draymond Green Praise Kuminga’s Growth
Post-game, coach Steve Kerr acknowledged Kuminga’s stellar play and discussed plans to maximize his contributions even when Stephen Curry returns.
Veteran Draymond Green highlighted Kuminga’s adaptability through role changes, saying:
“The path to the top isn’t always straight. He’s learning, and that’s key.”
Kuminga’s perseverance continues to elevate him as a cornerstone for the Warriors’ future.
