In a recent appearance on The Joe Rogan Experience, Jeremy Renner recounted the harrowing details of his near-fatal snowplow accident on New Year’s Day 2023. While attempting to prevent his 14,000-pound Snowcat from sliding into his nephew, Renner was pulled under the machine, resulting in 38 broken bones, a collapsed lung, and severe head trauma.
Renner described the sensation as feeling every “crack, snap, and squeeze” as the machine rolled over him. Despite the immense trauma, he remained conscious, focusing solely on breathing to stay alive. He vividly recalled seeing “my left eye with my right eye” due to his injuries.

His recovery involved multiple surgeries and months of intensive rehabilitation. Now, with parts of his body reinforced with metal, Renner refers to himself humorously as the “Tin Man,” embodying resilience and determination in the face of overwhelming adversity.
Renner’s memoir, My Next Breath, released on April 29, 2025, delves deeper into his experience, offering a powerful testament to the human spirit and familial bonds in the face of life-threatening adversity.
