The Los Angeles Lakers signed Quincy Olivari to a two-way contract, prompting LeBron James to share his excitement on social media with the message, “YEEEEAAAAHHHHH Q!!!!! Congrats kid 🙏🫡👑”. A two-way deal allows players to split their time between the NBA and G League while earning a single contract.
To make room for Olivari, the Lakers waived Colin Castleton, who played primarily in the G League but didn’t make significant progress with the NBA team. Olivari, a 23-year-old undrafted player from Xavier, impressed during preseason games, scoring 22 points with seven rebounds against the Warriors and 11 points with five rebounds in limited minutes against the Bucks.
The Lakers also awarded two-way contracts to Christian Koloko and Armel Traore as they finalize their roster ahead of the 2024-25 NBA season, which starts on October 22 against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Head coach JJ Redick praised Olivari’s effort, highlighting his work ethic and disruptive defensive play, calling it a blueprint for others.
