Madonna Says She Spoke to God During Near-Death Experience: “I Said, ‘No!’”

Pop icon Madonna has opened up about her terrifying health scare, revealing that she believes she had a conversation with God while recovering from a life-threatening infection. Last June, the 65-year-old superstar was hospitalized with a severe bacterial infection and placed in an induced coma for four days.

During a recent concert in Los Angeles, Madonna reflected on the ordeal. “When I woke up, the first word I said was, ‘No,’” she told the crowd. “I’m pretty sure God was asking, ‘Do you want to come with me?’ And I said, ‘No!’”

The “Like a Prayer” singer also thanked her doctor, who was in the audience, crediting him for helping her regain strength — even urging her to sit in the sun, which she admitted was once “so hard to do.”

Now back on the North American leg of her global tour, Madonna shared a powerful lesson: “For once, I wasn’t in control. And I had to let go.”
