Magic Johnson Declares Michael Jordan the True NBA GOAT
The NBA’s greatest-of-all-time debate has raged for decades, but Lakers legend Magic Johnson has made his choice clear: Michael Jordan still sits on top.
Speaking at Invest Fest 2025, Johnson recalled Jordan’s iconic 1991 Finals performance against his Lakers. “When Michael took off with that tongue out… we thought we had him. He switched to the left, tongue went left, spun it off the glass and good,” Magic said. “There’s nobody alive that can do that. That boy is too bad. Don’t get it twisted, I love LeBron, but no.”
The debate often comes down to numbers versus dominance. LeBron James enters his 23rd season as the NBA’s all-time scoring leader with four titles, while Jordan owns a perfect 6–0 Finals record and five MVPs.
