Neve Campbell says she’d be open to returning as Sidney in ‘Scream 7’

Neve Campbell, known for her role as Sidney Prescott in the Scream franchise, has hinted at a possible return to the iconic horror series, albeit under certain conditions. Campbell’s departure from the franchise in 2022, citing pay discrepancies, left fans disappointed, especially with her absence in Scream 6.

The recent departure of director Christopher Landon and the confirmation that Jenna Ortega would not return further complicated the production. Melissa Barrera’s dismissal due to social media controversy added to the turmoil, leaving uncertainty about the future of the series.

However, Campbell expressed optimism about the franchise’s continuation during a Variety interview at the BAFTA Tea event. She acknowledged the importance of the films to both the cast and fans, expressing her desire to see the series continue for their sake.

Although Scream 6 managed to navigate Sidney Prescott’s absence with minimal disruption, Campbell’s potential return could significantly impact the seventh installment. Fans have speculated about the return of Matthew Lillard’s character, Stu Macher, a co-original Ghostface, particularly since he has expressed solidarity with Campbell regarding her pay dispute.

Campbell’s return may pave the way for Stu’s anticipated comeback, hinted at subtly in Scream 6. As the studio navigates the complexities of production, including cast changes and fan expectations, the fate of Scream 7 remains uncertain, with no release date scheduled at present.
