What began as a fight for survival ended in heartbreak for a young Ohio couple after their newborn daughter, Ellieana Peyton, passed away following a tragic hospital accident.
Born with a rare heart condition called cardiomyopathy, Ellieana spent her first weeks in the NICU at Nationwide Children’s Hospital. Despite her challenges, her parents described her as a radiant light—full of smiles and warmth, with eyes that captured hearts.
But on March 31, just 29 days after her birth, Ellieana died from a devastating injury. While her parents briefly left the hospital to shower, a nurse accidentally dropped her. The nurse had the baby’s monitor cords in her pocket, which tragically caused Ellieana to be dragged from her crib. She suffered a fractured skull and brain bleeds.
The family is heartbroken, left grappling with unimaginable grief. Yet, they’ve been uplifted by the outpouring of community support. In their words, Ellieana’s short life brought boundless love—and her memory will never fade.
“She touched more hearts in 29 days than most do in a lifetime,” one relative shared.
