Nicolas Cage reportedly set to lead Live-Action Spider-Man Noir show

It seems Academy Award winner Nicolas Cage is in talks to bring his iconic Spider-Man variant to live-action for Prime Video in the upcoming Spider-Man Noir series from Sony Pictures Television. Set in 1930s New York, the series is rumored to feature Cage reprising his role from Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, although this connection has yet to be confirmed.

Meanwhile, the in-development Silk: Spider Society series for the platform has experienced changes, with the writer’s room being let go apart from showrunner Angela Kang, who is tasked with catering to a “male-skewing audience.” Originally scheduled to reconvene following the 2023 WGA strike, the show will still be executive produced by Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse duo Phil Lord and Chris Miller.

Spider-Man Noir, unfamiliar to some outside of the Spider-Verse films, originated during the Great Depression, acquiring his powers through a Spider Idol and facing off against Norman Osborn, also known as Goblin, in his reality.

Fans speculate whether both Spider-Man Noir and Silk: Spider Society will tie into the Sony Animation Spider-Man films, as both characters were featured in them. Cindy Moon, known as Silk, was even spotted as an easter egg in the original film on Miles Morales’ phone.

Despite these shake-ups, both Spider-Man-focused shows are continuing their development cycles, and time will tell if they maintain ties to the Spider-Verse films.
