Poor Boy Helps Old Woman Climb up Stairs, Later Learns They Lead To His New $1.8M Home — Story of the Day

A Boy’s Act of Kindness Leads to a Life-Changing Reward

Rick, a seven-year-old boy from a rural town, enjoyed playing with his friends near an old mansion. His friends believed a “witch” lived there, but one day, they heard coughing and saw an elderly woman struggling up the mansion’s stairs.

Ignoring his friends’ warnings, Rick approached the woman, offering to help. She gratefully accepted, introducing herself as Allison. Rick realized she wasn’t a “witch” but a kind, lonely old woman. After helping her, Allison invited Rick inside for milk and cookies, and they quickly bonded.

Allison revealed she lived alone, as her caretaker had recently quit, leaving her to fend for herself. Touched by her story, Rick offered to help her, accompanying her on weekly grocery trips. Over time, they became close friends.

One day, Allison didn’t answer her door, worrying Rick. His mother later took him to a lawyer’s office, where Allison revealed her immense gratitude for Rick’s kindness. She left him her $1.8 million mansion, and Rick and his mother cared for Allison until her passing at age 103.
