Trump’s Alleged Threat to Bomb Moscow Shocks Kremlin Amid Leaked 2024 Audio
Donald Trump’s stance on Russia appears to have taken a dramatic turn. Once seen as unusually friendly toward President Vladimir Putin, the former U.S. president is now under scrutiny after a leaked 2024 audio recording obtained by CNN revealed he allegedly threatened to “bomb the living daylights out of Moscow” if Russia invaded Ukraine.
“I told Putin I’d bomb Moscow if he invaded,” Trump reportedly said at a donor event. “He believed me—maybe 10%.”
This revelation comes just three years after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, which reshaped global alliances and U.S.-Russia relations. Trump previously claimed he could end the war in 24 hours and had publicly described Putin as someone who “wants peace.” But now, his tone has shifted. At a Cabinet meeting, he declared, “I’m not happy with Putin… not happy with them at all.”
Trump also claimed to have made similar warnings to Chinese President Xi Jinping about Taiwan, stating Xi “thought I was crazy.”
The Kremlin, however, dismissed Trump’s claims. Russian spokesperson Dmitry Peskov denied any such conversations took place, emphasizing there were no phone calls between the two during Trump’s campaign. “We don’t know if this is real or not,” Peskov said, suggesting the clip could be fake.
So far, Trump’s team hasn’t responded to the leak.
As the 2024 election nears, these bold comments raise serious questions about Trump’s foreign policy approach—and how much of it is bluff, bravado, or a real threat.
