Sally Field Names Burt Reynolds Her Worst On-Screen Kiss
Oscar-winning actress Sally Field recently made headlines after revealing her least favorite on-screen kiss—and it was with none other than her late ex-boyfriend, Burt Reynolds. During a candid appearance on Watch What Happens Live, Field admitted that kissing Reynolds in Smokey and the Bandit “wasn’t something he really did well,” joking that there was “a lot of drooling” involved.
Field and Reynolds dated for five years after meeting on the set in 1977. While Reynolds later said he regretted how their relationship ended, Field shared in a 2023 interview that she hadn’t spoken to him for the final 30 years of his life. “He was just not good for me,” she said.
Despite emotional ups and downs, Field has built a legendary career with standout performances in Steel Magnolias, Forrest Gump, and Mrs. Doubtfire. At 76, she remains active in Hollywood, most recently starring in HBO’s Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty.
“He wasn’t the man you’d want to kiss—or keep,” Field quipped.
