Taken to early: 18-year-old dies weeks after collapsing during her high school graduation

Sienna Stewart’s Final Walk: A Graduation That Moved the World

Eighteen-year-old Sienna Stewart of Hiram, Georgia, showed the world what true courage looks like—just weeks before her passing. Despite battling severe cardiomyopathy and recent heart failure, Sienna fulfilled a dream that meant everything to her: walking across the stage at her high school graduation on May 23.

Diagnosed with heart issues at age 4, Sienna received a life-saving heart transplant and enjoyed nearly a decade of normalcy. But in early 2024, her health declined sharply. Still, she remained determined.

As her name was called at graduation, Sienna collapsed just after receiving her diploma. Paramedics rushed in, and though briefly unconscious, she insisted on finishing her walk. With unwavering strength, she stood once more—becoming the final graduate to cross the stage to a powerful standing ovation.

Her mother, Saevon Chum, recalled, “She just fought through something that hurts her. Till the end, I was proud.”

Sienna had hoped to attend college and become a sonogram technician. Though her life was brief, her legacy of resilience will endure.
