When historic floods devastated southeast Texas in late May, the destruction was swift and overwhelming. Streets turned to rivers, homes vanished, and entire neighborhoods were left underwater. But more than a thousand miles away, Caitlin Clark and Connor McCaffrey were watching — and they didn’t stay silent.

On June 1, the Indiana Fever star and the former Iowa basketball captain released a heartfelt 42-second video:

“We can’t just scroll past this,” Clark said.
“This time, basketball isn’t enough,” McCaffrey added.

That message launched Heart for Houston — a nationwide initiative that raised $5.3 million in 29 days. Youth teams pledged 3-pointers. NBA stars joined in. Even Matthew McConaughey got involved.
