Angel Reese, Chicago Sky forward and a top-10 pick in the 2024 WNBA draft, has opened up about the financial challenges she faces despite her successful rookie season. Reese, who earns $73,439 from the Sky, revealed that her WNBA salary barely covers her living expenses, particularly her $8,000 monthly rent in Chicago. Speaking on Instagram, Reese admitted, “The WNBA don’t pay my bills at all… My rent is more than that.”

The significant pay gap between the WNBA and NBA is stark, as Donovan Clingan, the seventh pick in the 2024 NBA draft, will earn $6.8 million in his first season. Reese supplements her income with NIL deals, having built a strong social media presence during her college days at LSU.
In the offseason, Reese attended high-profile events like the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. She will also compete in the new “Unrivaled” three-on-three league in 2025, a venture aimed at boosting player salaries and providing equity to participants, alongside stars like Breanna Stewart and Napheesa Collier.
