Trump Claims Early Victory as Conflict With Iran Intensifies

Global analysts continue examining the objectives of the administration of Donald Trump in its ongoing conflict with Iran. The situation escalated after early military strikes reportedly eliminated several high-ranking Iranian leaders, including Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. Despite nearly two weeks of heavy aerial attacks by U.S. and Israeli forces across Iranian targets, the conflict shows few signs of ending. During a rally in Kentucky on March 11, Trump told supporters the war was effectively decided “within the first hour.” His statement came even as Iran reportedly continued launching drones and missiles in response to the strikes.

Criticism of the Iran Nuclear Deal

During the rally, Trump argued the United States might still need to “finish the job,” suggesting that leaving too soon could allow Iran to rebuild its military strength. He also renewed criticism of former President Barack Obama, particularly over the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action. The 2015 deal was designed to limit Iran’s nuclear program in exchange for the lifting of economic sanctions. Under the agreement, Iran reduced its enriched uranium stockpile and allowed international inspections of its nuclear facilities. Trump withdrew the U.S. from the deal during his first term, arguing that it failed to address Iran’s missile programs and broader regional activities.

Security Concerns and Possible Retaliation

Tensions increased further after Israel reportedly carried out a strike against Khamenei in late February, triggering retaliation from Iranian forces and drawing more U.S. troops in the region into the conflict. Meanwhile, U.S. officials are monitoring potential threats at home. The Federal Bureau of Investigation circulated an alert to authorities in California regarding unverified intelligence that Iran could attempt a drone attack launched from a vessel offshore. Officials stressed there is no confirmed or immediate threat, but the warning was shared as a precaution. California Governor Gavin Newsom also said the state is not aware of any imminent danger while remaining prepared to respond if necessary.
