Stephen Curry’s Uncertain Future with the Golden State Warriors
Stephen Curry, the historic point guard for the Golden State Warriors, has been instrumental in leading the team to four NBA championships since 2015, establishing them as a modern dynasty. With two more seasons left on his contract, Curry remains non-committal about his future in the league.
Despite 15 years with the Bay Area franchise, Curry’s future in sports is uncertain. Speaking to the press during the U.S. national team’s training camp for the Paris Olympics, the two-time regular season MVP emphasized his focus on making the best decisions for his career and his desire to continue winning. “I will continue to make the best decisions for myself and my career at the end of the day. I want to win,” Curry stated.

At 36, Curry has expressed a desire to compete at an elite level until around age 40. His current contract extends until 2026, and he has not ruled out the possibility of changing teams either through free agency in two summers or via trade during the 2025-2026 season. While he hasn’t denied wanting to retire as a Warrior, Curry acknowledges the business side of basketball for all involved parties.
Curry’s potential departure would mark a significant shift for the Warriors, who have relied heavily on his leadership and skill to achieve their success over the past decade. As fans and analysts speculate on his next move, Curry’s focus remains on winning and making strategic decisions for his career.
