Kelsey Plum’s Flagrant Foul Highlights Sparks’ Loss to Golden State Valkyries
During Saturday’s game against the Golden State Valkyries, Los Angeles Sparks star Kelsey Plum was called for a flagrant 1 foul after a tough play on Veronica Burton. With less than four minutes left and Golden State leading 68-53, Plum tripped Burton while defending her dribble attempt by sticking out her left leg.
Fortunately, Burton escaped serious injury. Plum’s foul resulted in two free throws for Burton, extending Golden State’s lead. The Valkyries secured a 72-59 victory, improving their record to 15-15.
It was a challenging night for Plum, who finished with just four points, four rebounds, and four assists. She struggled offensively, shooting only 1-of-9 from the field and missing all four three-point attempts.
The Sparks will quickly regroup as they prepare to host the Seattle Storm on Sunday, starting a brief two-game homestand before facing the New York Liberty on Tuesday.
