‘Wheel of Fortune’ Player Fails To Solve This Puzzle, Loses Out On $61k

It was a heartbreaking — and unforgettable — moment on Wheel of Fortune this week, as contestant Eric Handzel watched $61,000 slip through his fingers in the Bonus Round.

Handzel, a proud Yankees fan from Chadwicks, New York, played a strong game, building an impressive $21,350 and winning a luxury cruise to Argentina and Patagonia. But when the final puzzle appeared — “_ _ _ _ P_LL_ _” in the Around the House category — everything changed.

With just seconds on the clock, Eric guessed “Pulley,” then “Pillow”… but missed the right answer: “Body Pillow.” His hesitation cost him a $40,000 prize.

“I use one every night too,” host Ryan Seacrest joked, adding humor to the tense moment.

The episode also featured a viral highlight — Eric’s enthusiastic dad Joe laughing loudly from the audience, stealing hearts and screens online.

Fans quickly reacted, calling the puzzle “one of the easiest in recent memory,” while others sympathized, noting pressure changes everything on live TV.

Though the Bonus Round slipped away, Eric still scored over $21,000 and a dream vacation — and earned a Wheel of Fortune memory fans won’t forget anytime soon.

“Good attempt by the player — that pressure is real,” one viewer wrote.

A body pillow may never feel the same again.
