Wheel of Fortune’ Player Misses Out On $83,000 After Failing To Solve This Hard Puzzle

The Halloween-themed episode of “Wheel of Fortune” delivered high energy, sharp gameplay, and one emotional twist thanks to Chicago contestant Anastasia Armitage. Her spirited personality won over the audience instantly as she shared her love for fall traditions like apple orchards and pumpkin outings — along with the surprising confession that she has never tasted coffee despite loving its aroma. Competing against Tony Ambrose of New York and Kym Adams of Texas, Armitage trailed early, but once she found her rhythm, she dominated the board with a series of quick, confident solves.

Her comeback began with the Same Letter puzzle, earning her a festive trip to Salem, Massachusetts. She followed it with a commanding win in the Mystery Round, solving “Pet Peeve” and pushing her total to nearly $15,000. The momentum didn’t stop. In the Express Round, she powered through “What The Fun!” to secure a second trip, this time to London, while racing past $23,000 in winnings. Then came a triumphant sweep of the Triple Toss-Up puzzles — “Be Prepared,” “Be Persistent,” and “Be Afraid Be Very Afraid” — a moment that left the studio erupting in applause.

By the Speed-Up Round, Armitage was unstoppable, sealing her lead with “Chain Saws And Lawn Mowers” and stepping into the Bonus Round with $38,324 in cash and prizes. With the category “People,” she narrowed in on “Opponents” but couldn’t land the full answer, missing the correct phrase, “Rival Opponents,” and the additional $45,000 that came with it. The reveal was bittersweet — a near-perfect run ending just short of a major bonus victory.

Despite the miss, Armitage’s enthusiasm never dimmed. She left the set grateful and proud, while fans online were quick to praise her quick thinking and fearless gameplay. Her performance became one of Halloween week’s standout highlights, proving she’s a solver viewers won’t forget.
